Walúula Floodplain Restoration Project at McNary National Wildlife Refuge
Walúula Floodplain Restoration Project is an endeavor between the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to reconnect the bottom six miles of the Walla Walla River with 1500 acres of its historic floodplain at McNary NWR.
Steve Kahl, the restoration project leader, will talk about this undertaking and how it will restore wetlands, riparian corridors, and increase the river channel’s complexity.
He will also provide updates on happenings at the Mid-Columbia River NWR Complex.
