Environmental Resilience
What is it?
In communities, infrastructure includes essential systems like transportation, energy, water, communication, and public services that support daily life and economic activity. Environmental resilience within this infrastructure means designing and managing these systems to withstand and adapt to challenges like climate change and natural disasters. This involves sustainable practices, such as green infrastructure, flood control, and ecosystem protection, ensuring long-term economic stability and a thriving, adaptable community. It is intended to augment adaptive systems, such as emergency shelter, as well as to aid recovery from hazardous events.
