What is it?
Water quality in social sustainability means making sure that everyone has access to clean and safe water. It involves protecting water from pollution and waste, so it remains safe for drinking, cleaning, and farming. Good water quality is important for people’s health and for the environment. Focusing on clean water helps keep communities healthy and supports the environment for future generations.
Who’s working on it in the Tri-Cities?
- Kennewick Water division – The Water Division provides clean, clear, potable water to its utility customers.
- Richland Water Quality team – Richland’s Water Utility is dedicated to providing reliable, high quality water services by using proven treatment techniques and best management practices.
- Pasco Water Filtration division – The Water Filtration Division operates within the Public Works Department and is responsible for delivering quality drinking water to the City of Pasco residents that meets and exceeds state and federal requirements.
